In foam production, plastics (pasty and semi-liquid) are foamed with nitrogen or CO2 under pressure in an appropriate mould. Polyurethane is mainly used as the basic material, e.g. in the production of foam mattresses. Since a large quantity of gas is needed in a short time, the gas required must be taken from a gas storage facility with the appropriate volume and pressure. The gas storage is kept under pressure or refilled with HOFER diaphragm compressors.
