Flavour and fragrance production

Artificial flavourings and fragrances are chemical substances with flavouring properties. An attempt is made to copy substances that occur in nature. The flavour and fragrance industry uses about 2,500 flavorings.

Synthetic flavourings are produced by chemical processes. These are artificial flavouring substances such as synthetically produced vanillin. Extraction stages are necessary to produce these substances. The solvents used, e.g. propene, are recovered with HOFER diaphragm compressors. As these are also foodstuffs, a high level of gas purity is required.
