Exploration & Production

In order to search and find oil and gas deposits, the industry uses seismic waves. These seismic waves are generated by shooting compressed air into the ground with so-called air guns. This generates waves that are reflected by the individual layers of the earth with different amplitudes. With the help of this data, an image of the ground is created, which can be used to determine whether the area under investigation possibly contains oil or natural gas deposits.  NEUMAN & ESSER compressors are used to provide the necessary pressure for the so-called Air Gun Systems. NEA SAPS (Seismic Air Power System) is a compact compressor solution that can also be used as a containerized solution, combining a screw compressor and a V-compressor to compress air from atmospheric pressure up to 207 barg. The NEA SAPS system is also available in an oil-free version as BLUESAPS, a particularly environmentally friendly compressor solution in which the condensate water remains free of impurities.

During the production cycle of a gas or oil reservoir, the reservoir pressure steadily decreases, making production increasingly sluggish and inefficient. To increase the efficiency of depleting a reservoir, the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method is used. NEUMAN & ESSER compressors are used in the Gas Lift or Gas Injection application.

With the Gas Lift or Gas Injection method, the density of the existing oil is lowered and at the same time the reservoir pressure is increased by forcing gas back into the reservoir. As a result, production and utilization rates can be increased. NEUMAN & ESSER compressors compress the gas to be injected into the reservoir from the current reservoir pressure to the corresponding required final pressure. The requirements of the constantly decreasing reservoir pressure, i.e. the suction pressure, as well as any modifications to the compressor system that may be necessary in the future, must be taken into account during the initial engineering stage.
