NEA compressor at the TU Dortmund University
NEUMAN & ESSER donated the Technical University of Dortmund a piston compressor, which is used both in a gas volume test stand and in the teaching. At the inauguration, Prof. Andreas Brümmer (left), head of the Chair of Fluidics, thanked NEA’s Managing Partner Alexander Peters (center) and Gerhard Knop (right) from the Central Division of Technology.
On July 24, 2014, a new gas volume test stand was inaugurated at the Technical University of Dortmund. With it the institute explores different stationary and instationary issues in the field of fluid mechanics. In addition to the required operational and technical control modules, in particular a pulsations generator as well as the measurement section and the associated measuring technology are the test stand research area.
Construction of the test stand started about three years ago and was then completed gradually with the various components. The first was the NEA reciprocating compressor 2TZS20 (2-stage, dry-running, vertical compressor of size 20). NEUMAN & ESSER provided the TU Dortmund University with the recip at that time. Task of the NEA compressor in this test stand is the static charging of the closed loop with up to 10 bar.
The NEA reciprocating compressor is not only applied in the test stand. It is mainly used for teaching purposes. The compressor is equipped with a cylinder pressure indication. That way, students can be clearly demonstrated the pressure build-up and pressure profile of the two stages. The crankcase is covered with acrylic glass plates so that the movements of the inner parts can be observed during operation in detail.
